This scenic hike through the Flinders Chase National Park weaves through a diverse range of ecosystems and takes in the habitat of the shy platypus.

Listen for native birds in the forest canopy, spot sleepy koalas in tree branches and kangaroos seeking sanctuary in the shade along this easy-grade 4.5 kilometre trail weaving through Flinders Chase National Park. Walk quietly past the typical habitats of the elusive platypus and learn more about this intriguing monotreme. Wildflowers and delicate bush orchids in winter and spring add a surprising splash of colour to the landscape.

This walk is best undertaken outside the high summer months when waterholes are typically nearly dry. The best chance to spot platypus (a rare event) is early morning or evening and the walk may be scheduled at those times if suitable. The walk can be enjoyed self-guided or on a private basis with a lodge guide.
