Executive Chef

Seeking a star to lead the kitchen brigade

A unique and exciting opportunity exists for the position of Executive Chef located at Southern Ocean Lodge.  As the leading member of the kitchen team you will be responsible for delivering a world-class culinary experience for our discerning, well travelled guests.

We are looking for someone with experience in delivering high quality fine dining experiences who has a passion for regional produce and understands the nuances of catering to both domestic and international visitors.  As the successful applicant you will demonstrate excellent attention to detail and will have the ability to lead a team within one of Australia’s most renowned luxury hotels.

To succeed in this hands on role, applicants must be fully qualified as a Chef, have demonstrated managerial experience plus at least 5-7 years of kitchen experience within the hospitality sector.  Applicants must have a love for food and wine, have a collaborative approach and excellent leadership capacity. As a small team we pride ourselves in a strong network, offering support to other departments if needed.

Skills & Experience

  • Appropriate Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) qualifications.
  • Significant experience at a minimum Senior Sous Chef level within a hotel or resort kitchen environment.
  • Demonstrated purchasing and stock control skills.
  • Demonstrated people management skills, including supervisory and interpersonal communication skills and human resources functions (eg interviewing, training, motivational capability, disciplinary action and career development).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to adhere to product specifications.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • A passion for local produce & contemporary Australian cuisine.
  • Ability to implement efficient kitchen operations ensuring compliance with all legislation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite of software an advantage.
