This June, you’re invited to join our friends from the Barossa Valley’s renowned restaurant and winery Hentley Farm for a one‑of‑a‑kind winter wine weekend here at Southern Ocean Lodge. Across two nights, you’ll share in a warm celebration of Barossa craft, coastal adventure and South Australian hospitality, hosted by our lodge team in collaboration with Hentley Farm founders Keith and Ali Hentschke.

Over two nights and three days, the Hentley Farm: Icons on the Clifftop wine weekend unfolds as a blending of the Barossa vineyards with the vast Southern Ocean. Hosted tastings, long‑table lodge dining and guided island experiences are thoughtfully woven together, giving you a deeper connection to Hentley Farm’s single‑vineyard philosophy and the dramatic coastal landscape that surrounds the lodge.

From Hentley Farm’s Blanc de Noir ready on arrival to vertical tastings of Hentley Farm’s iconic Beauty Shiraz and Beast Shiraz, every glass shared and savored is designed to build the layered stories of people and place. You’ll taste rare and museum‑release wines alongside current vintages at signature occasions, from relaxed welcome dinners to a showpiece Icon degustation dinner, with Keith and Ali sharing stories from the Barossa throughout.

Itinerary

  • June 26, 2026 – Welcome to the Wild Coast

Wherever possible, it’s best to arrive on Kangaroo Island via early flights or the ferry for a chance to enjoy lunch and/or some signature adventures, relax fireside in the Great Room while waves roll in below, take a coastal stroll or settle into the comforts of your suite.

As evening falls, a casual sunset drinks gathering flows into a generous family‑style welcome dinner, where Keith and Ali Hentschke introduce Hentley Farm’s story through a line‑up of current release wines: Blanc de Noir Sparkling, Mt Crawford Riesling, the Luxury Range including Old Legend Grenache, The Beauty Shiraz and The Beast Shiraz, and a first taste of pinnacle wine Clos Otto Shiraz.

  • June 27, 2026 – Barossa Meets Southern Ocean

The morning begins with a relaxed lodge breakfast overlooking the Southern Ocean, leaving time for you to join guided island experiences or a slower start to the day.

For lunch, a ‘Barossa Picnic’ feast awaits, where South Australian produce takes centre stage alongside a curated selection of Hentley Farm wines including The Stray Grenache/Shiraz blend, Cabernet, Zinfandel, Mt Crawford Saperavi and special Creation Project releases, with Keith and Ali sharing the stories behind each wine.

During the afternoon, the focus turns to the ‘icons’. During the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ masterclass, you’ll explore vertical tastings of The Beauty Shiraz and The Beast Shiraz across standout vintages, followed by an introduction to the ‘Creation Project’ – a partnership with the Adelaide Central School of Art – and the artistic inspirations that shape each bottling. This masterclass represents the first national opportunity to host a vertical of key ‘Creation Project’ museum vintages, a fitting exclusive for this special collaboration.

The day culminates in the Icons dinner, a five‑course degustation created in partnership between the Southern Ocean Lodge and Hentley Farm’s kitchen teams. Museum and rare wines take centre stage, from Museum Riesling and Grenache to Museum Beauty and Beast, H‑Block, Quintessential, von Kasper and Clos Otto, poured to complement each course and carry the narrative of Barossa heritage all the way to the Southern Ocean.

  • June 28, 2026 – A Fond Farewell

On the final morning, make the most of a leisurely breakfast, with a last chance to soak up the lodge’s wild coastal views and reconnect with the Hentley Farm team and fellow travellers.

Departures are staggered through the day, leaving space for a final walk, one last glass or a special take‑home reminder of the weekend’s shared stories from the Barossa Valley to Kangaroo Island.
